This is the website for the singer - Sarah Eyden, based in London, UK.
I grew up listening to Jazz. Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, Sammy Davis Junior, Frank Sinatra, Blossom Dearie. And watching old movies - anything with Judy Garland, Ann Miller, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor...
Loved vocal harmony, so couldn't wait to audition for The Swingle Singers.
I was 20, and to my surprise, I got the job!
THE SWINGLE SINGERS
I toured the world with The Swingle Singers as their 1st Soprano for 5 years. La Scala, Milan. Carnegie Hall, Japan, USA, Europe. Concerts Hall and festivals everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Loved it. Throughout these years I trained with Rae Woodland at The Royal Academy of Music.

SYNERGY VOCALS
After 5 years I wanted something different. With my flatmate and good friend we decided to start a group performing classical contemporary music. We sang with Steve Reich & Musicians, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Bash, Ictus, London Sinfonietta and performed at Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Centre New York and throughout Europe and the USA. www.synergyvocals.com
CLASSICAL CONTEMPORARY MUSIC
Following performances with Synergy Vocals at the South Bank in London, I was asked to perform with London Sinfonietta and the amazing trumpet player Andrew Crowley at a world premiere broadcast on radio three of RIRO for trumpet and soprano, by the composer Vykintas Baltakas at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. We also went to Cyprus to perform the piece.
Some further solo concerts followed over the next few years with London Sinfonietta in Buenos Aires, Cyprus and in London at both The Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Barbican singing works by John Adams, Luciano Berio and Steve Reich.
But Jazz & lighter music was in my heart and I felt that I was somehow in the wrong world.... So, I stopped so much of the classical work and focussed on what I love.
BIG BAND
I begun working with The Syd Lawrence Orchestra singing jazz standards and loved it. I travelled around the UK and to Dublin in my dream job - Jazz singing. I also fulfilled a dream and recorded my first Big Band Album.....

I joined www.metrovoices.co.uk in 1999, and have sung on most major movie soundtracks with features on Lord of The Rings, Atlantis, Corpse Bride, The talented Mr Ripley, Da Vinci Code, Sleepy Hollow, Shrek II & Elizabeth the Golden Age. Pop albums - Gary Barlow, Bjork, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Russel Watson, Katherine Jenkins, Spiritualised, Pet Shop Boys, Il Divo, Sarah Brightman and probably more I've forgotten about...!
ACTING
At this time I decided to do a straight acting course and had a wonderful time at The London Repertory Academy and soon afterwards starred in a short film as a tramp and Jazz Singer and made another great friend www.jackieoudney.com

I sang the soprano role of the "Angel' in Nick Strimples' composition, 'Nativities' - Live with the London Symphony Orchestra standing halfway back amongst the seats at The Fairfield Halls (The venue was empty for the recording!) - I felt miles away from them but it was a thrill to sing back there! - It was released in 2009 in the US.
CARL DAVIS CBE
In 2009/2010 I took part in a series of Orchestral concerts in the UK singing the wonderful music of Bernstein, In a show put together by Carl Davis CBE "Bernstein on Broadway" - and was asked to perform "Glitter and be Gay" from Candide, for the first time in my life, with Carl Davis and The Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra!! - daunting, but loved the challenge. What a dream.
